Welcome to Year 6
Jaguar Class
Welcome to Jaguar class with Miss Williams and Mrs Gawu. We are both so excited to be working with the amazing new Jaguar class. This year, we will be learning about lots of interesting areas across a range of subjects. We will learn in Geography about life in the oceans and the difficulties that they face, such as the rise of plastic pollution. We will also learn about lots of different cultures and the history of different countries, as well as a brand-new style of art (Manga) which is well-known in Asia. In History, we will find out about what life was really like for soldiers fighting in the trenches in WW1, as well as how life was different for those back home too. We will also have lots of opportunities to practise our PE and Art skills, as well as learning how to become a kinder citizen in both our Jigsaw and RE sessions. We can also look forward to our weekly Fri-yay sessions where we will get to try lots of fun new activities and improve our communication skills. This year really will be packed full of fun and learning and is sure to be a fantastic final year at Swingate.
Wolf Class
Welcome to Wolf Class with Miss Mckinnon and Mrs Patel. Wolves are known for their fierce stamina, determination and problem-solving skills – just like the children in Wolf Class! This year, we’re ready to channel our inner wolf to face new challenges and strengthen ourselves as a pack. During the year, we will dive into learning about life under the ocean and the impact humans have on sea life, we will explore the Asian culture and even be transported back to 1914 for WW1. Beyond the four walls of our classroom, we are excited to visit the trenches and face our fears at Chessington World of Adventures. In Wolf Class, we will demonstrate bravery, empathy, resilience and responsibility to conquer some of our greatest challenges yet to ensure our last year at Swingate Primary will be the best!
Bison Class
Welcome to Bison Class – Year 6 at Swingate! Get ready for an unforgettable year in Bison Class, where learning comes alive and memories are made to last a lifetime. I’m Miss Rokosz, and I’m thrilled to be part of your child’s final year at Swingate, guiding them on this incredible journey of discovery, growth and celebration.
This year, we’ll dive deep into the wonders of our oceans, learning how to protect these vital ecosystems and the creatures that call them home. Our adventure continues as we ‘travel’ across Asia—the world’s largest and most diverse continent—exploring its breath-taking landscapes, rich traditions and fascinating history. Then, we’ll ‘start-jump’ through time to witness the powerful stories of the Great War, developing empathy and understanding for those who lived through it.
However, Year 6 isn’t just about learning—it’s about living. We’ll welcome inspiring visitors, embark on exciting trips and create joyful moments together. From classroom challenges to outdoor adventures, every day will be filled with opportunities to grow and laugh.
As we master our reading and maths skills, we’ll build the confidence and knowledge needed to soar into secondary school. And of course, we’ll end our time at Swingate with a show-stopping Leavers’ Performance—a celebration of everything we’ve achieved and the friendships we’ve built.
Together, we’ll live out Swingate’s core values: Empathy, Bravery, Resilience and Responsibility. With positive attitudes and open hearts, Bison Class will make this year one to remember.
